On Call

Peace unto you in the name of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.

It is my pleasure to speak with you again. The Lord has been dealing with me on this message for a while. As I was driving home one day he spoke to me saying the words “On Call” and I began to see images of employees. Many of us have jobs that require us to be on call while others voluntarily become on call. When I say voluntarily on call I mean those who are so so quick to accept extra shifts without a single thought of asking if that is the place God wanted them to be that day. What is it that makes us commit and be so faithful to being on call for our jobs and not for God? Whenever a person is on call he/she has to stop doing whatever he/she may be doing to go address whatever issue is happening at the job site. What I want you to understand and see is that God desires you to be on call for him. He has people that have issues or needs that only an on call believer is assigned to address and resolve immediately. However, we often spend time in places we shouldn’t be. God is constantly calling us to help fulfill needs but receives no answer. Some even hear God’s instructions but out of selfishness ignore the will of God, which highlights that your job has priority over God. God is very clear about prioritization concerning believers which he has clearly stated in Matthew 6:33. The second thing is stewardship to the God we serve. It’s interesting that many can be great stewards for a job but neglect stewardship concerning the spiritual things of our heavenly Father. He desires us to be great stewards in all that we do (1 Corinthians 4:2). Stewardship is extremely important to the believer because it speaks to commitment, discipline, and a willingness to fulfill God’s agenda. What you must realize is that nothing overrides the assignment God has for you. Whenever your availability is based upon the time you have left after doing what you want to do instead of what God desires you to do then that’s a problem. There are deposits God has placed in you to help release someone from bondage but there are also deposits in others to help release you in certain areas of your life. Therefore understanding your assignment and being available to be used for that assignment is important. Remember this if you delay others then in the same breath you can become delayed as well. I want to encourage you to make it a priority to serve, be available for use of God, and trust God as your source.
