Good
Morning,
Holy
Spirit really began to open my eyes when he ministered this message to me. It was
such a blessing to just hear him teach and give me visuals with the teaching.
Lord I give you praise for your wisdom and guidance. We all have had dreams we
wanted to obtain as adults and children. Holy Spirit began to take me deeper
into the difference between dreams and desires of the heart. The dictionary meaning
of dream is an aspiration, goal, or aim. A dream usually consists of something
you saw or want to be/obtain. The thing about a dream is it’s usually coupled
with the words such as I, I want, or something of a personal gain for self.
Sometimes our dreams change as we get older depending on what we may see
ourselves doing or wanting to do at a particular time in our life. Holy Spirit
is really leading me right now and just spoke to saying “Look at the word want
it keeps appearing in reference to dreams.” We often hear people say go chase
your dreams but we must be mindful that our words frame our world. A dream can
be viewed as something that would speak more to our wants or personal agendas.
Many have lost all they had chasing after their dreams. Others have moved
across the country or even to America in hopes to capture a dream in which they
are chasing. God has never desired to see us lose anything but to live life abundantly.
There is a difference when he strips us of certain things but it is only to
bless us with something better. One must understand you can only flourish where
God has assigned you to flourish within the will he has set for you. The word
of God speaks to desires of the heart instead of dreams. Desire in the
dictionary means to express a wish to obtain, ask for, request. This would be
in concordance with the word of God according to Mark 11:24 which reads, “Therefore
I say unto you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive
them, and you will have them.” Now depending on which version of the Bible your
reading it may use the word ask/desire. No matter which version you’re reading
there is a distinct difference in a dream and desire. The word of God doesn’t tell
you to chase your dreams but instead seek ye first the Kingdom of God (Matthew
6:33). As you find him you begin to marvel at the experience of Christ. Your
desires become to please him and advance his kingdom. Through this you now find
purpose and as you find purpose the true desires of our heart emerge. The desires
of our heart now have nothing to do with yourself or what you want to be. It
deals with who God says you are and what you were created to do. Dreams are
sought to accomplish self- related things but desires are designed to
accomplish God ordained things in which you were created to do. Once you have
established something with God based off his principles then those things are
set in motion. God has blessed you with the gifts to do whatever it is you need
to in compliance with his will for your life. Your gifts will put you before
those you need to meet according to Proverbs 18:16. Desires of the heart are
put within you to include others. Dreams are self- generated while desires of
the heart are produced to include others (see Philippians 2:4). Focus in on
your God-given and God –related desires because God always desires to bless you
to be a blessing to others through you.
Quote:
Go seek the will of God for your life and discover the true desires of your
heart.
